Summer has barely started and it’s already been filled with lots of travel, shooting, and as always, seeking out new clients here in St. Louis! I was so happy when Club Atletico reached out to me to meet up about shooting with them this season. If you know me, you know my passion for soccer, and any opportunity to combine it with photography is a dream come true.
Because of my travel schedule, and life schedule (I got married!) I was only able to cover a couple home games for Club Atletico, but I’m looking forward to working with them more in the off season and for the next NPSL season. Enjoy these images from their 2019 tryouts and first home game against FC Wichita.
Club Atletico competes in the Heartland Conference of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). It’s the largest men’s soccer league in the U.S. with 98 teams competing across the country.
Led by owner and manager, Ricardo Garza, the club prides itself on community outreach, player development, and excellence on the field. Ricardo has also helped to develop Club Atletico soccer academies in Bolivia and Zambia, connecting the club to the global soccer community.
Tryouts for the 2019 squad take place at SLU High School. Players consist mostly of college grads and semi-pro players looking to break into the professional ranks via the NPSL. Competition is fierce, as only a select few will make the team this year.
The first home game for Club Atletico vs FC Wichita ends in a draw on a humid night in St. Louis.
